This is a list of books I’ve bought and haven’t yet read… some have been on here for ages, while others don’t even manage to make it on here before I finish reading them!
Last updated 28 June.
- Wind Rider’s Oath (David Weber) - His Honor Harrington series has been likened to Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkorsigan series (which I love). Read the first HH book, and now am trying other books of his. I stupidly picked up the third in this series - I hate it when I do this. So I’m hoping that they’re all stand-alone novels. ETA: I couldn’t figure out who was who, so I also picked up the first book in this series (Oath of Swords), but haven’t quite managed to get into it yet.
- Daughter of the Forest (Juliet Marillier) - Fantasy; bought due to online recs for romantic fantasy
- The Turning (Jennifer Armintrout) - Urban fantasy with vampires; it’s starting off well…
- Beyond Breathless (Kathleen O’Reilly) - Bought due to a rec on a couple of online sites, I think one was Dear Author, but can’t remember the second
- The Demon’s Daughter (Emma Holly) - I liked her other book in this series “Prince of Ice”.
- The Dream-Hunter (Sherrilyn Kenyon) - Yes, I bought this one… This is the first book in her Dream-Hunter series, which is set in her Dark-Hunter world.
- Beholder’s Eye (Julie Czerneda) - SF book, which I ordered ages ago and just delivered by Amazon. I can’t quite remember why I ordered this, but it must be due to an online rec somewhere.
- Dragon Lovers (Jo Beverley, Mary Jo Putney, Karen Harbaugh and Barbara Samuel) - Paranormal romance anthology with a dragon theme (and with a beautiful cover!)
- Warrior Angel (Margaret and Lizz Weis) - Paranormal romance; ordered this online before reading the reviews (which were generally negative), so I’m not too excited about reading this.
- A Certain Slant of Light (Laura Whitcomb) - YA paranormal (I think); again, online recs
- Demon Moon (Meljean Brook) - Paranormal romance; second in the series
- Stardust (Neil Gaiman) - Fantasy
- The Trouble with Valentine’s Day (Rachel Gibson) - Contemporary romance
- Daemon Eyes (Camille Bacon-Smith) - Urban fantasy. Two-in-one omnibus.
- The Four Forges (Jenna Rhodes) - Fantasy.
- Spellbinder (Melanie Rawn) - Urban fantasy, methinks. Saw the hardcover ages ago, but couldn’t really justify buying yet another hardcover - this is the mass market paperback version.
- The Dark is Rising sequence (Susan Cooper) - YA fantasy. Err… it must have been rec’d by someone somewhere…
- The Eternal Rose (Gail Dayton) - Fantasy. Third in a trilogy - this surprisingly arrived from Amazon a week after they emailed me saying it would be delayed until January!
- Highlander Untamed (Monica McCarty) - Historical romance. A total impulse buy. And I mean total. I haven’t read a Scottish historical since Julie Garwood’s last one.
- A Song for Summer (Eva Ibbotson) - YA, assuming it’s romance as well
- An Enchanted Season (Maggie Shayne, Erin McCarthy, Nalini Singh, Jean Johnson) - Paranormal romance anthology. I bought this for the Nalini Singh story, really!
- A Notorious Woman (Amanda McCabe) - Historical romance, set in Venice.
- Lord of the Fading Lands (CL Wilson) - Paranormal romance, according to the spine.
- On the Loose (Tara Janzen) - Romantic suspense. Part of her Steele Street series.
- Wolf Who Rules (Wen Spencer) - Fantasy. Sequel to Tinker.
- A Quest-Lover’s Treasury of the Fantastic (anthology) - Fantasy. It was on sale
- Wizards Inc. (anthology) - Fantasy. Impulse buy and I was in the mood for short stories!
- The Wicked Ways of a Duke (Laura Lee Guhrke) - Historical romance
- Firebirds and Firebirds Rising (anthologies) - YA SF/F
- The Spymaster’s Lady (Joanna Bourne) - Historical romance
- The Italian’s Defiant Mistress (India Grey) - Romance
- Regency Christmas Wishes (anthology) - Romance.
- The Boss’s Valentine (Lynne Graham) - Series romance. Reissued for M&B’s 100th anniversary, old-style cover and all. I’m a sucker.
- Lace and Blade (anthology) - Romantic fantasy. Bought mainly because of the Sherwood Smith and Catherine Asaro contributions.
- A Distant Magic (Mary Jo Putney) - Historical romance. With a paranormal twist.
- The Host (Stephenie Meyer) - SF
- Blood Bank (Tanya Huff) - Urban fantasy. Collection of short stories
- Nothing to Fear and Die for Me (Karen Rose) - Suspense
- Mara Daughter of the Nile (Eloise Jarvis McGraw) - Historical romance (?). Highly rec’d by The Book Smugglers!
- The Book of True Desires (Betina Krahn) - Historical romance. I used to love her books, and found this one on sale.
- Murder on Astor Place (Victoria Thompson) - Historical mystery. 1st in the series.
- The Hollow (Nora Roberts) - Paranormal romance. 2nd in the trilogy.
- The Vampire Diaries (LJ Smith) - YA fantasy. I bought both the two-in-ones.
- The Gabriel Hounds (Mary Stewart) - Romantic suspense.
- Murder of a Chocolate-Covered Cherry (Denise Swanson) - Cosy mystery. Part of her Scumble River series.
- Fearless Fourteen (Janet Evanovich) - Mystery. The latest Stephanie Plum.
