Another July Book

510Lu7dL-aL__SL160_ I missed Suzanne Brockmann’s July release off my list of July books that I want!  “Into the Fire” (romantic suspense) is out July 22 and is the latest in her Troubleshooters series.  I’ve loved the last two books (“Force of Nature” and “All Through the Night”) but mainly because of Jules.  Now that his HEA has been (hopefully) resolved, I’m wondering which lucky couple she’s now going to focus on for the next few books…

A bonus sampler PDF (large file) is available from her site to download – I haven’t read it yet, but the cover says it has an excerpt from ItF and a never-seen-before Troubleshooters short story, which is good enough for me.

  1. One more week! I have to say with the Jules arc resolved, I’m not as excited about this one as I was the previous ones, but I’m still looking forward to it.

  2. I’ve had trouble getting into Brockman, though truthfully I can no longer remember the reason why! I’ll have to give her another try. Currently, one of the books I’m REALLY looking forward to is Elizabeth Peters’ latest (and long, long overdue) in the Vickie Bliss series. I think it’s called “Laughter of the Kings.” It comes out later this summer — I think it’s been 10 years since the last Vickie/y Bliss book, and I really love them. Just lots of fun.

And a good romantic suspense read is “3 Aces.” It offers some different takes on the genre, including a poker-playing heroine on the run from an ex-husband and domineering mom, and an ex-soldier who’s now a trucker, and dealing with PTSD. There are cardsharks (I think that’s fun, what with all the casinos everywhere these days) and even a globalist trucking company to bring the book into the 21st century.

    Happy reading everyone!

  3. Thanks for the rec, Liz – I’ll keep an eye out for it.

I’m looking forward to the Vicky Bliss too, though part of me really wishes that she had written a new Amelia Peabody instead!

Brockmann – I was sooo into the Jules arc, therefore I loved her last two books. I’ll def get the new one, but probably won’t rush to the stores to get it on release day 🙂
